HAEUNDAE

The modern district of Haeundae was largely created following the building of several luxury hotels for the 1988 Seoul Olympics and has since distinguished itself an affluent beach community and contrasts the millennia old communities surrounding the port of Busan.

Its diverse locations, temperate climate, and recent relocation of the Korea Film Council (KOFIC) and the Korea Media Rating Board to Busan has suggested Busan to be a contender as the “Hollywood of Korea”, while the international prestige of the Busan Film Festival has earned the city a reputation as the “Cannes of Asia”.
