In Memoriam - Ken Hunter
I had the opportunity to advise the leadership of the Teamster Location Managers Local 399 this week regarding their contract negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers.
While I’m not at liberty to discuss the terms of that agreement until all the studio and union lawyers work out the subtle nuances required, I was pleased to find that images from the LMGA photography show Downtown: Incomplete LA were featured in the lobby of the AMPTP offices.
This goes to show that not only is there is some appreciation for our craft by the studios, their labor relations representatives are also reminded of our work whenever they come to the AMPTP.
One of the series of photographs given prominent placement was that of the late Ken Hunter. He was a brilliant photographer and scout, highly regarded throughout the industry, and was a mentor and colleague to myself and many of our peers.
It gave me great pleasure to think he is still raising the bar for all location scouts and managers through his images featured at the AMPTP for all the studio and other guild and union representatives who come through those offices for their triennial collective bargaining sessions to see, and am honored to take up the mantle this year in service to our membership under his watchful eye.
