Humboldt/Del Norte FAM Tour
I had the opportunity to tour the beautiful Northern California counties of Humboldt and Del Norte last weekend. They’re a world away from Southern California in look and attitude, sharing more with the Pacific Northwestern region of Oregon and Washington State than California.
Known mostly for their majestic Coastal Redwood forests, some over 300 feet high and thousands of years old. The redwoods have been featured as the moon of Endor in “Return of the Jedi”, and as prehistoric forests in “Jurassic Park” and “After Earth”.
I was invited up by the Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission who organized the trip to showcase their many other locations such as the quaint villages of Trinidad and Crescent City, as seen in “Jennifer 8” and Tim McGraw’s “Not a Moment Too Soon”, and the all American town of Ferndale as seen in “Outbreak” and “The Majestic”.
All in all, it was quite an educational trip with great colleagues and definitely somewhere I’ll be sure to file away for future work.
